Managing the Portfolio
Portfolio management is all about understanding business demand and controlling delivery against continuously changing business needs, a key challenge in large and complex organisations. To do this effectively, a set of repeatable delivery processes and sophisticated tools need to be adopted.
ASE's Portfolio Leadership service carries out a rapid review of the current portfolio of projects with our clients to agree the relative priorities and dependencies based on strategic business drivers and specific constraints. In addition our PM Maturity Assessment service improves your PM delivery processes, ensuring they are able to meet your current and future Portfolio delivery needs.
Identification
Initiating complex programmes requires experience, leadership, focus, structure and tact. ASE can leverage years of experience across many industry sectors to help you set up your programmes successfully.
Our Programme Initiation Workshop ensures all senior stakeholders are moving in the same direction, aligning the full team around the Programme Vision, Brief and Goals. Other key outcomes of the workshop include establishing the control mechanisms needed to manage the programme and creating the foundation for Benefits Realisation.
Definition
Building upon the work undertaken in the Identification stage, defining the strategies and setting up the governance required to deliver a programme is much quicker with an out-of-the-box PPMDF (Programme and Project Management Delivery Framework) based on Industry Standards. P3O standards combined with the ASE PPMDF help to initiate and set up the Programme Management Office.
During this phase our Solution Envisioning process works with all stakeholders to define a clear solution direction for each enabling project, aligned to the overarching programme blueprint.
Delivering Capabilities and Realising Benefits
Setting up a programme is complex enough, but running all projects to schedule and providing weekly metrics and clear reports on how the programme is performing requires thorough and persistent management styles keeping the PM community honest and transparent in achieving their goals.
ASE's Delivery Assurance service provides quantitative, repeatable and tailored reviews (e.g. to prepare for OGC Gateway reviews) using the ASE Health Check toolset to give you a thorough understanding of the quality and performance of your programme execution and target action areas for improvement.
The Benefits Realisation service assures that the Benefits Realisation Plan is achievable and clearly owned, tracked and delivered.
Closing
Throughout a programme it is critical that projects are only closed once it is clear that their objectives have been met and that handover to BAU is complete.
ASE ensures that Programmes and Projects are closed according to Best Practice, with full handover to BAU, any residual risk fully managed and lessons learnt clearly captured.
